Arrival Day

Namaste,
Health Seeker

Welcome to Athreya. Before you go deeper into your therapy programme, there is something Dr. Sreejit would like you to read, understand, and carry with you through every day of your stay.

A personal message from your physician

Before you begin —
a few words that matter.

The human body and the human mind both carry within them a great ability and an urgent desire to heal. This is not a belief. It is physiology. Your body is already doing it, right now, even before the first therapy begins.

What we do at Athreya is not something we do to you. We create the conditions in which your own healing intelligence can work more fully, more freely, and more deeply than it has been able to in the environment you came from.

But you have a role in this — and that role begins today, on your arrival.

"Please ensure you have a thorough reading of the two graphs on this page. They will save you from the single most common source of disappointment in Ayurvedic healing — and reveal to you the single most important thing to understand about your time here."

Failing to understand what you are about to read may or may not make you lose benefits — but it denies you many of the gains you actually deserve from your stay.

My team and I are at your service. This page is your homework. Please read it slowly, and return to it whenever the process feels uncertain.

What Healing Actually Looks Like
Over Time

Most guests arrive with an expectation: that healing will feel like a steady, linear improvement — a smooth upward line from Day 1 to Day 21. The reality is more honest, and more hopeful, than that.

Healing: A Journey, Not a Straight Line — Expectations vs Reality

The dashed line is what most guests hope for. The solid line is what healing actually looks like — and it is not a sign that something is wrong. It is a sign that something real is happening.

  • There will be days when you feel significantly better than the day before. These are real gains — not peaks before a fall.
  • There will be days when symptoms you thought were improving seem to return or intensify. This is often healing crisis — the body mobilising and releasing what it has been holding. It is a good sign, not a bad one.
  • The overall trajectory is upward. But it does not travel in a straight line. No genuine healing process ever does.
  • Guests who understand this graph leave Athreya with dramatically better outcomes — because they do not panic during the dips, and they do not abandon the process when it feels hard.

How Ayurveda Moves
from Diagnosis to Health

Ayurveda does not treat a disease. It treats the person who has a disease. This distinction is not philosophical — it is the reason Ayurvedic treatment is customised for every single guest at Athreya, every single day.

Ayurveda: From Diagnosis to Health

This is why no two guests at Athreya receive the same programme. Your doctor reviews your treatment daily. Adjustments are made in real time — based on how your body is responding, not based on a fixed protocol.

Trust the process. It is being designed for you — not for a condition.

Yoga Nidra —
The Gift from Guruji Amrithji

Alongside your therapies, Dr. Sreejit asks every guest to begin practising Yoga Nidra daily during their stay at Athreya. This is not optional homework. It is one of the most powerful complements to Panchakarma available — and it costs nothing except 30 minutes of stillness.

"This practice was gifted to me in February 2017 — inside a special dark room — by an 85-year-old Yogi with 60 years of teaching experience. His name is Guruji Amrit Desai. What he passed on that day has since become a cornerstone of what we offer every guest at Athreya."

— Dr. S.P. Sreejit, MD (Ayu)

Yoga Nidra works by bringing the brain into a state between waking and sleep — the theta wave state — where the nervous system can reset at a depth not achievable through ordinary rest. For guests undergoing Panchakarma, this deepens the therapeutic effect of every treatment.

The benefits are precise and measurable: relaxation of brain waves, reduced cortisol, emotional serenity, significantly improved depth of sleep, and a revitalisation of the psyche that supports the body's healing at every level.

Three things before your
first therapy tomorrow.

01
Read the Healing Graph

Understand that dips and plateaus are not setbacks. They are part of how genuine healing moves through the body.

02
Study the Ayurveda Pathway

Know that your programme is designed specifically for you — not for your diagnosis. Trust the adjustments your doctor makes daily.

03
Practice Yoga Nidra Tonight

Use the video above before sleep. Make it a daily ritual for every evening of your stay. The compounding effect is significant.
