1. Do I need a consultation before booking my stay?
Yes. Every guest is required to complete an online consultation with the treating doctor before booking. This helps assess your health condition, determine if Athreya is the right fit, discuss treatment prospects, and plan your programme in advance. This is a critical step — it ensures your treatment begins the moment you arrive.
2. How long should I stay at Athreya?
Athreya recommends 7 days for a first taste of Ayurveda, 14 days for a thorough Panchakarma detox, and 21 days (detox plus rejuvenation) as the ideal stay. Long-standing chronic conditions may need up to 28 days. Your doctor confirms the right duration during your consultation.
3. How much does treatment at Athreya cost?
Treatment at Athreya is charged per treatment day. Current rates are INR 12,000 per day for single occupancy, INR 20,000 for double and INR 26,000 for triple. This includes cottage accommodation, Ayurvedic meals, a daily doctor consultation (except Sundays), a customised therapy every day and herbal water, with complimentary Wi-Fi, basic yoga (except Sundays) and the Agnihotra fire ceremony. Airport transfers, laundry and aftercare medicines (about INR 8,000 for three months) are extra. An online consultation with Dr. S.P. Sreejit costs INR 3,500.
4. How are treatment days calculated at Athreya?
Athreya charges based on actual treatment days, not calendar days. If you arrive late and treatment cannot begin that day, you are not charged for it. Similarly, charges apply only up to your last treatment day — not based on checkout time.
5. What should I bring to Athreya?
Bring comfortable, loose-fitting clothing suitable for a tropical climate. Athreya provides treatment clothing, towels, and other essentials. You should also bring your medical records, any current medications, and the health documents provided by Athreya (shared after your pre-consultation). Minimal luggage is recommended — most guests find they need very little during their stay.
6. What kind of food is served at Athreya?
Athreya serves pure Ayurvedic vegetarian food, freshly prepared daily. Meals are not chosen from a menu — they are prescribed by your doctor based on your treatment plan and body constitution (Prakriti). The food is a vital part of your healing process. Dietary preferences and allergies are accommodated within the Ayurvedic dietary framework.
7. Can a companion stay with me at Athreya?
Yes. Companions are welcome and can stay at Athreya under the double or triple occupancy rates. Companions can enjoy the peaceful campus, yoga sessions, and Ayurvedic meals. A medical consultation is recommended for all guests staying at Athreya.
8. What is the best season to visit Kerala for Ayurvedic treatment?
Ayurvedic treatment can be done year-round. Traditionally, the monsoon months (June–September) are considered especially well suited to Panchakarma in Kerala. Athreya is open all year, and your doctor will advise the best timing for your condition.
9. Do you accept international credit cards and bank transfers?
Yes. Athreya accepts international bank transfers and major credit/debit cards. An advance payment may be required to secure your booking. Specific payment details are shared during the booking process.

12. Does Athreya arrange airport pickup and drop?
Yes. Athreya arranges transfers from Cochin International Airport (INR 6,600, to and fro) and Trivandrum International Airport (INR 12,000, to and fro). Transfers are arranged after your booking is confirmed.
13. What is the nearest railway station?
Kottayam Railway Station is approximately 6 km from Athreya. Auto-rickshaws and taxis are readily available from the station to the centre.
14. How long do the results of Panchakarma treatment last?
Results can be long-lasting when supported by the post-treatment dietary and lifestyle guidelines provided by your doctor. Many guests report sustained benefits for months after their stay. For chronic conditions, periodic Panchakarma treatments (annually or as recommended) can help maintain and build on the improvements. Many guests return to Athreya year after year.
15. Does Athreya provide follow-up care after I leave?
Yes. Athreya’s care extends beyond your stay. Doctors provide detailed post-treatment recommendations for diet, lifestyle, and continued medication. Follow-up consultations are available to monitor your ongoing progress. This continuity of care is a hallmark of how Athreya treats every guest.

Yes. Your doctor prescribes any medicines that need to be continued after departure. Athreya provides a sufficient supply of medicines to take with you, along with clear instructions on dosage and timing.
